So,
For those of you that don't know, my wife(the photo) is pregnant. Well, she has been disastrously sick. We had to hire a photog to come in last weekend and cover her while she was vomiting. It was a huge mess. We went to the doctor on Monday and they checked her into the hospital for dehydration. This was last Monday with 2 weddings coming up. We had photogs hired to help us, but we still needed my wife well. On top of all of this, the Friday bride hadn't done a bridal portrait, so we didn't know her very well. The whole, "my wife's in the hospital but I'm sure it will be fine" line of thinking was terrifying, but we told her anyway. Assuring her that we had one of the best in town helping us, and all would be well. So, long story short, they released her on Wednesday with some better drugs and she made it through the weekend just fine. The bride Friday was 5:30 getting ready for her 6:00 wedding so, needless to say we were rushed, but after the week I had; it was ok. Cool folks. Long weekend. Yay wedding season...  Undecided

Sorry to hear that your wife has been having a rough time with the pregnacy.  I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say that I hope she's feeling better by now and that everything goes well - and congratulations!

As for having illness interrupt business, twice, over the years, I've had problems, probably from food eaten at restaurants, and worried that I might not make it through a wedding shoot.  It happened to Jean once.  Thankfully, we always made it through, if barely, but it pays to know someone you can call to back you up.  It's one thing to have to pay someone else, but it would be a bigger problem to have to explain to a client why they didn't get their wedding video'd, etc.

One of the reasons I hired on my brother in law as an assistant is because we anticipated pregnancy sickness. It was a good thing too. She missed a couple weekends early on. She's back to being pretty good now, but you never know. Her mom was sick the whole 9 months with her.
